Juliet Travis's Auto-Biography

Juliet brings both client-side and agency-side PR experience to the table, and has lived through the start-up roller coaster — twice. Juliet helped build the infrastructure and launch of Zapatec, a Berkeley-based startup company, where she managed all aspects of marketing, advertising and web site development. She was also the first employee hired at Direct Network Access, Inc. (DNAI) — one of the first ISPs in Northern California — where she juggled the roles of business manager, public relations, marketing, sales and technical support. DNAI was acquired by RCN in August 1999.

Juliet comes to Rocket Science from Schwartz Communications, where she oversaw the successful launch of companies including Gluecode (an enterprise-class open source company), Sanctum (a security company), Rackable Systems (provider of large-scale data center solutions), and Juvenon (a nutritional supplement company). For Juvenon, she managed the development of b-roll and two Harris Interactive surveys accompanied by NAPS releases. In addition to a deep understanding of enterprise technologies, Juliet has telecommunications in her blood, having led the California rollout and launch of Pacific Bell's DSL and data services (including ISDN, Frame Relay, SONET, T1, and ATM) while at Fleishman-Hillard. She also provided on-site support for the launch of Nokia's wireless LAN cards, telephony and secure Internet products and services while at CGI Group.

Born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, Juliet competes in triathlons and plans to enter her first half Ironman triathlon in August. Juliet earned a B.A from the University of California at Berkeley
