Twitter Users Explain Their Addictions with: Why I Tweet

twitter addiction

Trending topics on Twitter today include #WhyITweet, #creditcrunch TV, #qanda,#netprofit and Danny Gokey.

I was amused to read some of the reasons listed for WhyITweet. Here are some of my favorite lines from the thread:

BC__ Because I really wanna blog but can never come up with more than a sentence or two #WhyITweet

MrVirgo9784 #WhyITweet Cus the little blue birdie inside my head told me to

Unsonnet #whyitweet Because I find my life far too interesting to not force information about it on other people.

notsotrue #WhyITweet because the judge said I can't go within a 100 yards of certain people :)

Usha1608 #WhyITweet cause Facebook is f-ing corny now

Usha wasn't the only users griping about Facebook. I was suprised to see several others had also grown weary of the social networking leader. I also noticed one Tweet that put Twitter's use in a new light.

120789#WhyITweet To remember. I guess it's also a lasting archive of me, who I am and what not. Interesting.

The amount of self-proclaimed Twitter addicts doesn't surprise me after our lent survey revealed 66% couldn't give up their favorite social network. If Twitter ultimately proves to be nothing more than a tech trend that vanishes after a few years, I wonder how many users will wish they had chronicled their life the old fashion way- a journal.
