Gun Sales Spike from Rumors of Assault Weapons Ban

semiautomatic rifle

Let me preface this post by stating that I don't own a gun, and I'm not a member of the NRA. I'm simply pointing out a trend I've noticed during the past few months.

Looming gun control legislation and the economic crisis have combined to drive gun sales through the roof. I joined my friend on his trip to a local gun show last weekend. I knew I wasn't going to buy anything, I just wanted to see what the atmosphere was like.

When we arrived,  I couldn't believe how crowded the venue was. We were lucky just to find a parking spot, and once we entered the auditorium, we could barley make our way through the crowded aisles, and other shoppers. I was also amazed by the number of people enrolled for the on-site gun saftey course, which  was totally booked.

I'm not sure how many of the semi-automatic weapons on display fell under the 19 types that fall into the Assault Weapons Ban Clinton signed in '94 (expired in '04), but I'm sure some of them will be off the market if Obama renews it. Meanwhile, it's a great time to be in gun sales.

(1) Thoughts on Gun Sales Spike from Rumors of Assault Weapons Ban

When will the Dems learn that the Bill of Rights is not a schmorgasboard from which to pick and choose? Gun control is a lead weight that Obama is going to hang from his party's neck. Better start dog paddling guys!
