Amazon Kindle 2 Will Include Text-To-Speech Reader

kindle 2

Amazon made major headlines today when it unveiled the Kindle 2 reader, which will be released Feb. 24, with a pre-oder price of $359.

The new electronic reader touts:

  • Slim design: (1/3 inch)
  • Lightweight: 10.2 oucnes
  • Improved Display
  • Longer battery life than the original kindle : 25% more power.
  • More Storage: Up to 1,500 books
  • Faster reading: 20% quicker page turns.
  • Read to me:  Text-to-Speech feature, Kindle can read every book, blog, magazine, and newspaper out loud.

(I wonder if you can download different voices or author voices for certain novels)

Low prices on major titles: New York Times Bestsellers will go for $9.99.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Steven King is working on an exclusive book for the new Kindle.Personally, I think the text-to-speech feature is a MAJOR selling point, because it replaces the need to buy an audiobook for travel.
