Gatorade Goes Viral with What is G? Commercial

The "G" craze continues.

Web-savvy minds at Gatorade deserve credit for creating a viral marketing success with its  What's G? Commercial.

The ad's ambiguous tone and star-studded lineup left TV viewers scratching their heads and searching for more information.
For example, only 13 days have passed since my first post about the G commercial, and it has already received more than 30 thousand views. 

For a broader perspective on the ad's online presence, Google: What is G? and look at the results. You can also try What's G?, or What is G? Commercial.  You'll notice the ad's popularity on message boards, youtube and social networks.

Gatorade's not the only one benefiting from the ad, the Jabbawockeez, which appear in the closing moments of the first ad, should gain more traffic to their site. The masked dance team got their first shot at fame after an appearance on  America's Got Talent, on NBC, and the MTV  Reality Show America's Best Dance Crew.

As more Americans turn to their iPhones and Blackberry's for instant information, I expect more brands to follow Gatorade's lead.

I think this is a stupid commercial. The voice in the commercial is so annoying, that I often turn down the volume or change the channel when it comes on...I'm not even joking. Topping off an already dumb commercial is the the moving morons at the end. This is an awful commercial. I can understand the athletes, but the voice and the moving morons do not make sense to me. They were not necessary.

Overall then, I was not curious about the product or fired up about how great the commercial was...that is not why I am here. I am here to vent at what a stupid commercial it is because I just saw it and I'm sick of seeing it. If this was the intended effect from the brains at Gatorade--to piss people off--then it worked. But I can guarantee you this: I will never buy this G sh!t BECAUSE OF THIS COMMERCIAL. So Gatorade can eat it. Peace.

"What's G?" gets the most annoying commercial 2009 handsdown. its like the nerdy classmate that tries so hard to fit in with the trendy crowd... why don't you fit britney in there too, maybe emminem. Total lack of imagination, poor execution, and yea, very annoying voice over.
