Recovery Bill Seeks More Converter Box Coupons Until Sept. 30
I found some of the details regarding the TV Converter Box Coupon Program in the latest economic recovery bill, officially known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Title III, section 47 of the bill calls for $650,000,000 worth of taxpayer dollars to fund cost associated with the convertor box coupon program, which will be made available until September 30, 2009. (For those of you who may not know, the program ran out of coupons.)
We're one month away until broadcasters make the complete transition to DTV broadcasts, but government officials fear that too many Americans will be left in the dark.
The Democrat-endorsed bill is expected to be voted within the next two weeks, when Barack Obama is President with a Democrat Majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate, along with Julius Genachowski, the new chairman of the FCC.
