Friday Trivia Question: Who owns Dr Pepper?

dps products

To all of you Dr. Pepper fans out there- I wonder if you can tell me which company owns Dr Pepper?

Is it Pepsi, or Coke?

If you said Coke, you'd be wrong

If you said Pepsi, you'd also be wrong.

Ever wonder why Dr Pepper shows up in both vending machines? The answer is simple- Dr. Pepper-Snapple Group (NYSE: DPS) makes Dr. Pepper, along with other drinks you may be familiar with, like  7UP, Mott’s, A&W, Sunkist Soda, Canada Dry, Hawaiian Punch, Schweppes, Peñafiel, Squirt, Clamato, Mr & Mrs T Mixers, Rose’s, Yoo-hoo and others.
DPS runs 24 manufacturing centers, with more than 200 distribution centers and employs 20,000 workers across North America-which distribute approximately half of the volume. Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO) , Pepsi (NYSE:PEP)  and independent third-party/licensed bottlers distribute the rest.Coke makes Pibb Xtra (formerly known as Mr. Pibb), which was created in 1972 to compete with Dr. Pepper.

I'll try to get the scoop on DPS' say in Pepsi's decision downsize its line of drinks from the 12-pack to the  8-pack, because the Dr. Pepper at my local Publix is sold in 8-packs.

(1) Thoughts on Friday Trivia Question: Who owns Dr Pepper?

A few points: There is no period in Dr Pepper.
7-Up is owned by Pepsi in Puerto Rico and most of the world outside of the US. There is a concentrate plant in Cidra PR that makes Pepsi and 7-Up concentrate. In the US, Pepsi tries to get its bottlers to abandon 7-Up and bottle Sierra Mist instead. (Of course now Pepsi owns its two largest bottlers.)
RC Cola is owned by DPSG in the US but outside the US it is owned by Cott Beverages, the company that makes most of the store brands.
