Brand Simple by Allen Adamson Via Cohn & Wolfe
It's Brand Simple by Allen P. Adamson (Managing Director, Landor Associates NY) and I'm pretty excited about it for a couple of reasons. First off the book couldn't have come to me at a better time because we're actually working on our own branding here on mshift. You don't see it right now but behind the scenes we've been working on small things like the logo, layout, infrastructure, content, editorial guidelines, and a few other things. And because the theme I get from glancing at the liner of the Brand Simple book is that it's all about keeping things as simple as possible.
Of course the simplicity theme is something we hear all over the place, from 37 Signals to the whole Web 2.0 craze. I'm not sure if the principles in the book can be applied to small businesses since Allen Adamson's experience has been with large corporations but we'll see. In fact, that leads me to my second reason for being excited about this book.
I'll be interviewing Adamson about the book but also testing his grit by asking him to comment on the new direction I plan on taking marketingshift. So it's a Q & A with some consulting added on for kicks. But it will be interesting to see if the wisdom he's applied to large clients and laid out in his book can be applied to the smaller brands as well.
