Why Email an RSS Feed?

Just as our head honcho Jason predicted, using RSS to generate emails is growing in acceptance. First there was FeedBurner's RSS to email service, and now Zookoda has taken the wraps off its version.

While it may seem counterintuitive to clog inboxes with information that could be more efficiently obtained through a feed, today's reality is that RSS has just a fraction of the audience of email marketing. So rather than running two channels to reach readers/customers, adapting the forward-thinking RSS feed to email saves time and money.

RSS feeds also usually only extract part of the content and send it to a browser, whereas you can produce your entire pitch in an email if you so desire. RSS to email is a useful bridge until RSS overtakes email as a distribution medium, which will be sometime between a few years and never.
