MySpace Selling Fox TV

According to Reuters MySpace will soon sell episodes of Fox's 24 for $1.99.

It makes sense that MySpace would leverage the content from sister company Fox TV, but charging per episode is a bad idea. The other networks experimented with selling shows on iTunes, but have since moved to ad-supported TV streams since broadcasters can make more money from advertising to the masses than they could from selling to a handful of addicts who haven't already TiVoed or traded pirated episodes.

A better idea would be to stream Fox shows for free, but only to MySpace members. That would further grow the user base, and give the company an opportunity to market DVDs and related promotional items.
