Clean Your Interface with Ajax
If you don't know Ajax yet, it's time to hit the books. Ajax enables websites to visually present content in interesting ways with a minimal performance hit.Ajax is a powerful tool for enabling users to quickly navigate visual representations of large data sets. Interactive Ajax mashups (see Google Maps, etc.) are redefining user expectations, and publishers need to redesign their websites now if they want to attract and retain audiences.
Ashley Friedlein, chief executive of E-consultancy, is on target when he says Ajax can significantly change the quality of the customer experience.
This week was the Ajax Experience conference, and Sun, which knows a bit about Java, created two developer websites (developers.sun.com/ajax and java.sun.com/javascript) to show its support for Ajax.
As an example, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is leveraging Ajax and Microsoft's Virtual Earth to create maps for humanitarian purposes.
