Super Bowl Commercials & Ad Tracking

During the keynote speech, James Larrison of ComScore, mentioned some stats about how much money is spent on SuperBowl ads and how many impressions a SuperBowl ad actually gets. Then he compared that to online reach of a normal web site and how many visitors you can be exposed to. Well, this year there is going to be some tracking implemented for SuperBowl ads and we'll enter a new era in offline ad tracking in an online world. Some friends of mine are going to be the ones doing the ad tracking in some different forms of online media. I'm not sure if I can mention it just yet or not but as we get closer to the big dance in Jan I'll let bits and pieces of what to expect out.

Think about it though, how many marketing organizations have post super bowl wrapup meetings to discuss the impact of each commercial and now how many of thoses discussions have moved online? Think about it, this is a great event to get some real data on and I can wait to start digging into it.
