Testing Out Skype

This evening my buddy Jimmy and I started testing out the coolest telephony service I've ever used. It's completely free voip telephony and the calls are incredibly clear. The only problem is finding friends that have enough money to buy a decent set of headphones with a built in mic. For the time being Jimmy's gonna have to resort to the old duct tape mic to mouth technique. Seriously, this thing is gonna catch on but I think I'm gonna open a headset store tomorrow to capitalize on this demand... lolJimmy's testing out Skype with a high tech telephony system. Ductaped mouth.

Working While Taking A Dump

The other day I was in deep thought (day dreaming), and a funny scenario ran through my head. At the end of my daydreaming session I was left with a question I'll pass on to you to get your feedback and thoughts on. It's best told in the first person so I'll tell the story from that perspective even though it's fictional.

Story goes like this...
So the other day I walked into the bathroom at my corporate America job and chose my favorite stall. I politely knocked on the door before I entered to be certain not to disrupt anyone in deep concentration. Good news, the stall was clear and I began my rigorous throne cleaning process before I sat down. At about that time I heard someone talking. My initial reaction was, are they talking to me? Then I realized they were talking to someone else but noone was answering (at least noone that I could hear). Then I realized this individual was talking on his cell phone. Not only was he talking on his cell phone but as the conversation continued I realized he was talking to one of the head executives people at our company. At this point I didn't know what to think. I was struck with the astonishment that this guy had enough balls to call up a major executive and conduct business while he was taking care of business. Then on the other hand I was impressed that he was so effecient to multitask and not seem phased by it one bit.

So now I pass this thought on to you. What do you guys think? Should I have been shocked and appaled or impressed? Would you be shocked or impressed or just plain grossed out?Conducting business on the throne or taking a dump, Impressed or Depressed?

Google Search Bug Patched

The Google bug I investigated for Garrett at Web Pro News has been resolved. Not a bad termination time for such a pesky critter. Try it out for yourself. Just search for C B and you'll see the urls displaying normally as they should.

Official Google Blog Now Online!

Here's a letter I wrote to Evan about the new Google blog and what I think of it.

What do you guys think about their new official blog?

---------------------------------------------------------
Evan,

I'm glad to see you've been able to implement an "official" blog
for Google. Hopefully, you'll be able to use it as a medium to
keep the tech community one step ahead of archaic news agencies
that don't realize the impact blogs will continue to make on their
industry. By posting updates on whatever Google deems of interest
to the general tech community you'll continue to sew the seeds of
trust and loyalty that got Google where it is today.

In other words, the blog is a great idea and will do well if it's
not "corporatized". Serg and Larry seem dedicated to running the
company the way they see fit and I think the blog will fit well into
that strategy. To that end I wish you the best of luck.

One thing I believe folks would love to see is different perspectives
from anonymous Google employees. Whether they're AdWords account reps, algorithm engineers, hard drive swappers :), or office administrators.
Put their views and thoughts on the blog and you've got the makings of
an exciting and intimate view of the world's leading search engine.

Best Regards,
Jason Dowdell

Kane at Internetseer Advertising Search Engine Optimization

I'm sure most of you are familiar with internetseer and their slew of emails about your domain's inability to stay online. You didn't opt-in to request any site monitoring from them but they want you to know they're watching your site (what a joke). Anyway, now they're offering advertising to the huge list of email they've collected (highly illegal) from whois resources and plain old screen scraping techniques. This guy, yet another search engine spammer, evidently thinks InternetSeer's list of emails is good enough to use for his own email ad campaign. Fat chance anyone that has half a clue will use it.

If anyone wants a copy of the email just send me an email jason at globalpromoter dot commm and I'll forward it to you. I hate spam and so should you.

No Vacation Or Insomnia

Sorry folks, I didn't take a vacation nor did I have insomnia over the past week but I was quite busy with other endeavours. They included flying to Atlanta and then returning the following day after a scheduling conflict arose.

Other events that interfered with the blog were...
1. Helping Shannon prepare for a huge Mother's Day event.
2. Attending a wedding on Saturday.
3. Attending a sports banquet on Saturday.
4. Packing for Atlanta trip at 3am Sunday.
5. Leaving for Atlanta Sunday morning.
6. Returning from Atlanta Monday afternoon.

I wish posting via my mobile was easier. Wait, blogger's making it easier for me to do that now so there are no more excuses. Look for more solid updates on the stuff that matters soon.
